V2.1 Firmware Released for WISE-5800 : Full Modbus RTU Function Supported
In July 2011, ICP DAS introduced the first Intelligent PAC Controller(WISE-5800) that is equipped with functions such as web-based operation, logic control editing and data logger all in one platform. The simple, easy-to-use, no-programming- required features have won highly praise from our customers. WISE-5800 requires no programming, no extra software tool; allows users to implement control logic via WISE webpage just a few clicks away. It is equipped with a built-in IF-THEN-ELSE Rule Engine that will check whether the rules are valid or not and determine the execution of actions under specific conditions, for examples: perform I/O modules operation control, Timer/Schedule task control, Email message/CGI command sending and interact with the SCADA software. With microSD card, the exclusive data logger function of WISE-5800 allows to record I/O channel value by event trigger or periodic time. The data logger files also can be sent back by Email or FTP to administrator for data analysis or administration management. The built-in SNTP Time Synchronization function via network allows connecting to SNTP Server for time synchronization to ensure the accuracy of the system time.
In considering the need to integrate various I/O devices in industrial automation applications, WISE-5800 v2.1 Firmware is designed to enhance the integration ability when connecting to I/O devices. In addition to the connection ability to I-7000 modules and XW-Boards provided by previous WISE-5800 version, the new v2.1 Firmware allows WISE-5800 to integrate with Modbus RTU Slave devices. This enhancement will make it easier and more flexible when performing integration or expansion of the I/O devices in order to meet various requirements in different industrial automation applications. In addition, other than Modbus TCP interface, via v2.1 Firmware, it also allows WISE-5800 to connect with SCADA software or HMI devices by Modbus RTU interface.
ICP DAS releases v2.1 Firmware for WISE-5800 controller. Besides the original v2.0 firmware functions; the new enhanced firmware provides the following features:
● Allows to connect with Modbus RTU Slave devices
The previous WISE-5800(v2.0 Firmware) supports ability to connect to ICP DAS I-7000 modules and XW-Boards for I/O devices connection ability. The new v2.1 Firmware allows WISE-5800 to integrate with Modbus RTU Slave devices in addition to I-7000 modules and XW-Boards. Various parameters (such as: Coil Output, Discrete Input, Input Register or Holding Register) for Modbus RTU Slave devices can be edited and integrated into the WISE IF-THEN-ELSE Rule Engine. Moreover, the data logger function of WISE-5800 allows to record I/O information of Modbus RTU Slave devices in addition to I-7000 modules and XW-Boards as well.

The previous WISE-5800(v2.0 Firmware) already supports Modbus TCP Slave function to connectto SCADA software or HMI devices. Now the new WISE-5800 v2.1 Firmware adds the new Modbus RTU Slave function. It allows users to freely choose Modbus TCP or Modbus RTU interfaces to connect to SCADA software or HMI devices according to the application requirement.
